I first met my people when I was 3 weeks old. I could walk pretty good but would fall down a lot when my brothers and sisters and I would play. I slept a lot, too. My Dog-mom was very busy because there were so many of us. When I met my new people, my new Mom held me and cuddled me. She handed me to my new Dad and I bit his thumb. I was pretty tuff, even at 3 weeks.
A few weeks later, my new people picked me up to take me home. It was a warm, sunny day in December. They put me in the car with them and I decided I loved them and was happy for a new adventure. I was a little tired, so I slept the whole way to my new home. When I woke up, I was at my home in Colorado Springs!
When we got to my new home, I was happy to find out that I had TWO older sisters waiting there for me! Tara and Chelsea met me in the back yard. The yard was so big and I was so little! Tara and Chelsea kept sniffing me and looking at me. I don't know why, but Chelsea had the strangest look on her face - she kind of looked like she wanted to throw up, or maybe pack her bags and move out. Tara decided that I was her baby and she played with me all the time. I would play so hard and get so tired! It was a very busy time for me.
As a puppy, I went to Obedience School and passed my classes. I don't know how I passed because I was never very obedient. Most times there were more important things to do, like picking fights with other dogs and keeping an eye on Tara to see what she was doing. She was always much more obedient than me. My Mom's face would get really red when I picked fights, but I just had to!
When I was about 3 months old, my Mom took me to a place she called a kennel. I met a man there who showed my Mom how to groom me - she calls it "stripping" - so we could go to dog shows. I hated the grooming. I had to hold still all the time and I was just too busy for that! We went there almost every week for a few months, and then I went to a dog show and won some ribbons. I retired my show career right after that because my Mom says my teeth aren't good enough for showing. I think my teeth are fine. I killed a rabbit with them once, so I don't know what she means.
In August of 2001, our parents brought home two little boy dogs that were just like me - only stupid. Mom called them "rescue dogs" and said we were their "foster home", but one of them never went away. His name is Spike, and he stayed here with us. I think my mom and dad really decided they liked him too much to give him up. He is a pain in the butt and he used to be a big baby about everything and was afraid of everything, but he's a lot braver now. I am teaching him how to be a tuff fox terrier, and Tara taught him how to bark at the neighbor dogs and I taught him how to chase birds and hunt for mice. I play with him alot but he really gets on my nerves. He doesn't realize that I should always win at whatever game we play! See? I told you he was stupid! Tara tries to make sure that things don't get out of hand just like Chelsea used to do when me and Tara got too wild.
