Spike and Oz both have happy endings to their stories. Both are in homes where they are loved, and cared for.

About Spike and Oz

--as told by Kathy

Spike and Oz (formerly Ike and Mack) came to us all-of-a-sudden. In August 2001, my sister-in-law was in St. Cloud, Minnesota, with her young sons. The boys like to stop at the Tri-County Humane Society and see the dogs. While there, Cyndi saw two fox terriers. The next day she sent me an e-mail telling me about them.

I thought of those dogs all day, and when I got home I e-mailed the Terrier List and the Foxy-K9 lists telling them of these boys. Pam Bishop from Fox Terrier Rescue e-mailed me back right away.

To make a long story short, Don and I beat it up to St. Cloud and that evening had a house full of terriers!!  And we've been working with Fox Terrier Rescue ever since!

Spike and Oz were 8 months old and were both neutered. They had been with a family who didn't have time for them and they were left outside during the day and crated at night. They had seldom been groomed and were extremely dirty and quite matted, but otherwise are very healthy, normal (is there such a thing?) Wire Fox terriers.

They blossomed quickly into two wonderful boys with wonderful personalities - happy and smiling and so appreciative of attention! They would run full speed around the yard just for the joy of running! This was one of the most wonderful things I'd ever done - these boys deserved a great life - and I knew I had to do all I could to help them on their way to that wonderful life that is awaiting them!

Spike was the quieter of the two. He seemed much more introspective and has a look to his face that shows a deep intelligence and deep soul. He was a bit shy and somewhat skittish. He was the first one to figure out that we didn't have to hold the flaps of the dog door in order for it work. And he was the first to figure out you can go IN and you can go OUT with it! Spike also figured out the Lazy Susan cupboard in the kitchen....! Spike is happy to be held and cuddled -  he is happiest when he is touching you. He wears his heart on his sleeve. He's a very special boy.

Oz was a wild-man! He's cute as a button and just totally alive! He was a live-wire while here! He loves to play and craves attention and likes to be in the thick of everything. Very typical fox terrier! He's very happy to be petted and cuddled. Oz went to a home in Chicago. His family consists of a "Mom and Dad" and two children. His new family love him to pieces and the from what I gather from the reports I've received from them, he has them all pretty well wrapped around his paw! I couldn't be happier with the placement and I am sure Oz is one happy, spoiled little guy!
